Situated near the airport, the East Martello Tower was a fort during the Civil War that never saw any action. The tower houses the museum of East Martello that displays historical exhibits on 19th and 20th century history. Highlights in the museum include relics of the USS Maine, many books by some of Key West's former residents, a Cuban refugee raft and works by Stanley Papio and Mario Sanchez. The tower offers unrivalled ocean views.

Located in the delightful two-storey Speakeasy Inn on Duval Street, the Havana Cigar Factory has been churning out some of the world's best and most aromatic cigars for years in this elegant 19th century house.

Key West Landmarks and Monuments: Key West Lighthouse - 938 Whitehead Street, Key West, Florida (FL), 33040, USA

This 98 feet / 30 meter edifice is the tallest building in Key West and was originally built in the 1840s. The lighthouse has a first and third-order (model) lens and is also a museum with nautical exhibits and charts. Views from the top are wonderful and the lighthouse keeper's house is next door.

Mallory Square is the most popular public spot from where to view Key West's famous sunsets and should be visited at least once on any trip to Key West. The square draws in large crowds every night including all manner of colorful characters and street performers.

Key West's most famous Southernmost Point landmark is set on the beak of land to the south of Covington Avenue and is the most photographed part of Key West. The multi-colored buoy marks this most southerly spot in the US, and only 60 miles / 144 km from Cuba.
